36 Days of Type Cakes — Personal Project

For the 36 Days of Type project in 2023, I challenged myself to blend my expertise in set styling with my passion for letters. I came across some images of faux cakes online and became fascinated by how real they looked and how much artistry was involved in cake decorating. Like many other delusional artists who have come before me, I thought to myself “I bet I could do that,” and promptly bought a piping bag. After learning to successfully get spackle to resemble frosting, I curated detailed sets to complement each finished creation. My goal was to transport viewers to distinct moments in time— an afternoon tea party, a nostalgic 70s basement, an opulent 19th-century feast, and a classic midcentury diner.
